Dar Gnawa

Preamble

Dar Gnawa Museum is a cultural museum that aims to promote and highlight the richness and diversity of the Gnawa culture, a musical and spiritual tradition originating from sub-Saharan Africa and transmitted to Morocco for centuries. The Dar Gnawa Museum is inspired by the ICOM Code of Ethics (International Council of Museums) and commits to respect the principles and standards of this code. The Dar Gnawa Museum welcomes all visitors, members, volunteers, partners, artists, and employees in a spirit of openness, dialogue, respect and friendliness.

 

Code of conduct

The code of conduct of the Dar Gnawa Museum defines the rules of behavior to be respected by all the actors of the museum, in order to guarantee a quality cultural experience, in respect of the heritage, the people and the environment. The code of conduct applies to all the spaces of the museum, including the exhibition halls, the catering areas, the administrative areas, the outdoor areas, and the virtual areas.

 

The visitors of Dar Gnawa Museum must :

      • Respect the opening and closing hours of the museum, as well as the safety and evacuation instructions given by the museum staff. In case of emergency, follow the instructions of the staff and do not panic.
      • Respect the rules of traffic and parking in the spaces of the museum, avoiding endangering other visitors, staff or works on display. Use the parking lots, stairs and corridors provided for this purpose. Do not run, push, shove or obstruct the passage.

      • Respect the rules of visiting the exhibitions, following the indicated route, keeping a sufficient distance from the works, avoiding touching, damaging or moving them, and respecting the prohibitions of photographing, filming or recording the works or performances without prior authorization. Use the audio guides, explanatory panels, brochures, or applications of the museum to enrich your visit. Do not use flash, tripod or drone. Do not speak loudly, phone, smoke, vape or chew gum.

      • Respect the rules of participation in the educational, cultural, or artistic activities offered by the museum, registering in advance if necessary, arriving on time, following the instructions of the facilitators, participating actively and respectfully, and respecting the copyrights and intellectual property rights of the works or contents presented or created. Do not disrupt the smooth running of the activities by inappropriate, disrespectful or aggressive behaviors. Do not reproduce, disseminate or sell the works or contents without authorization.

      • Respect the rules of use of the catering areas, consuming only the products sold or authorized by the museum, avoiding eating, or drinking in the exhibition halls or educational areas, depositing the waste in the bins provided for this purpose, and respecting the hygiene and cleanliness standards. Do not introduce alcohol, drugs or illicit substances into the museum. Do not consume products that may harm the safety of others.

      • Respect the rules of use of the virtual spaces of the museum, such as the website, the social networks, the online platforms, or the applications, using them for their intended purposes, respecting the privacy and personal data of others, avoiding spamming, trolling, cyberbullying or any other abusive or illegal behavior. Do not hack, modify, copy, or misuse the contents or functionalities of the virtual spaces. Do not post or share any content that is offensive, hateful, violent, pornographic, discriminatory, or contrary to the values of the museum.

      • Respect the environment and the sustainability of the museum, adopting an eco-responsible attitude, minimizing the consumption of water, energy, and paper, favoring the use of public transport, bicycles or walking to access the museum, and actively participating in the recycling and waste reduction initiatives organized by the museum.

      • Respect the other visitors, volunteers, partners, artists, and employees of the museum, by adopting a courteous, polite, tolerant, and kind behavior, avoiding disturbing the calm, tranquility, or enjoyment of others, avoiding harassing, assaulting, threatening or discriminating anyone, and respecting the diversity of opinions, beliefs, cultures and identities. Do not wear signs or symbols contrary to the values of the museum or likely to shock or offend others. Do not interfere with the work or the enjoyment of others. Do not carry weapons or dangerous objects.

      • Respect the specific commitments related to the status, functions, contract, or agreement concluded with the museum, as well as the values, mission, vision, and objectives of the museum. Also respect the laws and regulations in force, as well as the obligations of confidentiality, loyalty, transparency, and accountability that apply to them. Report any breach of the code of conduct that they are aware of and cooperate with the bodies responsible for enforcing it.
     

    Sanctions

    Non-compliance with the code of conduct of the Dar Gnawa Museum may result in sanctions, ranging from verbal warning to expulsion from the museum, through suspension or termination of the status of member, volunteer, partner, artist, or employee, depending on the severity and repetition of the facts. The Dar Gnawa Museum reserves the right to file a complaint or seek compensation in case of damage caused to the heritage, people, or environment of the museum. The museum reserves the right to modify or update the code of conduct at any time, without prior notice.
